If you're overworked and underpaid - or have a little time on your hands and want to spend it lucratively - working from home might be just the thing for you. Gone are the days when the earner of the house needed to "go out" for work every morning - it's not the travel and the office desk that is valued today - but the actual work you do. There are many different kinds of work you might want to do that you can simply sit at home and complete. Working from home lets you invest about as much time as you want to invest on earning, get paid accordingly and not need to go into the hassles of traveling to your workplace everyday; instead, you can sit in the comfort of your own home and work at your leisure.
Working from home is not for everyone - working from home is not the same as working in your office or at a work site. There are many things that one misses while working from home - most of all the company of colleagues. One might not realize it, but the physical presence of colleagues lends a lot to the work atmosphere one is used to. Colleagues provide for company, entertainment and reassurance at a work place - working with others is comforting - and psychologically very good for you. If you work from home - you will naturally not be able to work in the physical presence of others, in some cases, not even have to keep up online with them.
On the other had, working from home gives you many opportunities that your work place will not afford. Firstly, you get to choose how many hours you want to spend on your work over how many hours you want to spend with yourself or your family. The idea is to be able to prioritize what you want so that you can pick a job on your own terms - the hours you want to invest, the money you want to earn, the kind of work you want to do. The last is very important - as it is for any offline career as well. You shouldn't be stuck in a job that you hate - even if it is paying you extremely well: it is psychologically dampening and mentally and physically (and environmentally) harmful.
You can work on a number of completely different things from the comfort of your own homes - you can choose skill-based projects that you will be comfortable doing - start your own business from home, deal only in trading finances and stocks, or work for a data-entry business - depending on what you would like to do and how much time you would like to spend on it.
Identify your skill set and set a search engine running for the kinds of jobs that you might like to do. Identify the advantages and disadvantage every search result you come up with might have - and pick a job that suits your skill set, your time preferences and your personal preferences. There are millions of opportunities available out there - because outsourcing is simple and inexpensive - so you'll definitely find work - the important thing is to choose what work you want wisely.
